Midwinter Lighting Showcase

Here we are, smack dab in the middle of one of the coldest, whitest winters on record. All these long, dreary days and dark, stormy nights make us yearn to bring glowing warmth into our homes with beautiful, dramatic lighting.

Here in the Great Northwest, although we’ve been blanketed with powder several times already this season, we’ve also seen our usual share of drizzle, clouds, and generally gloomy midwinter weather.

Are you ready to set a bright, romantic mood with lovely lamps, sconces and chandeliers?  Here are few of my favorite pieces from some of the top designer lighting vendors at our Seattle-area furniture store.

Illuminating ‘Caviar’

For a soft sparkle from above, the “Caviar” pendant chandelier glows with glass-encased ‘bubbles” in this piece designed by Laura Kirar for Arteriors Home.

Caviar Adjustable Large Cluster

This adjustable eight-light cluster makes foe a dramatic light sculpture over a table.

Starburst

Longing for a clear evening with twinkling, star-filled skies?  Currey & Co.’s “Starburst” wall sconce captures the magic of a midwinter night with aged mirrored detail and a shimmering silver-leaf finish.

This wall sconce is sold as a pin-up, which allows them to be either hardwired or plugged in.

Brightening Bauble

The golden warmth of the sunshine may feel like months away, but the “Bauble” table lamp designed by Barbara Barry for Baker Furniture will add soft, warm rays of light to any space.

This lamp features a gorgeous hand-blown Murano glass base with 24 karat gold highlights.

Beautiful and Bold

Finally, bring a touch of drama (as well as ample light for a reading nook, study, or office space), with the “Reaching” floor lamp from Theodore Alexander’s Vanucci Eclectics collection.

The design features a vintage steel spire and hand-sewn double shade with bronzed steel trim.

Now, sit back and bask in the glow from these marvelous midwinter mood lighting selections. You’ll soon forget about the cold, blustery weather outside.
