Four Chinese New Year-Inspired Furnishings

With an array of dazzling fireworks displays, feasts and festivals, the Chinese New Year in 2014 is the Year of the Horse, honoring the charming, charismatic Chinese astrological symbol.

According to ancient legend, those born under this sign are thought to be cheerful, skillful with money, perceptive, witty and talented.

In honor of the New Year and it’s equine ambassador, I’ve selected a few of my favorite Chinese-style furnishings and elegant equestrian accents.

Cocktail Closet

First, toast the New Year in grand Chinese style with Century Furniture’s lovely Lotus Bar Cabinet from the Chin Hua collection. This dramatic piece’s beautifully carved doors open to reveal ample, elegant storage for La Crema wine and other tempting libations.

Next, sip in style while comfortably seated in a Chinese’ Chippendale’ style armchair from Baker Furniture. Handcrafted using sturdy rattan, this chair combines traditional Chinese forms with graceful European influences.

Finally, add high-style horse themed accessories, such as John Richard’s ceramic horse figures.  These lovely tabletop accents pieces are based on ancient Chinese originals from the Tang dynasty.
